We have two surf camp locations: Little Plains Beach in Southampton and Peters Pond in Sagaponack. Both locations are mapped out below for your convenience.
date & time
Surf camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 12:00pm. We recommend that campers arrive at least 10 minutes early, to allow them time to get their wetsuits on and so that our instructors can take attendance, which maximizes the campers’ time in the water.
typical camp day
The camp day begins around 8:50am. We have meet and greet and take attendance upon arrival. The campers will suit up and have an open body surf session with our instructors until the last camper arrives, when the whistle blows. At this time, we move on to morning calisthenics and yoga for about 20 minutes. Following the warm up, campers learn surf forecasting and the basics of evaluating ocean conditions, followed by on-beach surf instruction including pop up drills and paddling techniques. Campers will spend the remaining time in the water, with the exception of a 15 minute snack break in the middle of the surf session. Flying Point Surf School provides snacks at no extra cost, but campers are welcome to bring their own snacks as well. The whistle blows once again at 12:00pm, at which time we begin checkout.
Flying Point Surf School does not provide transportation. Surf camp is drop off and pick up only. Our camp locations are mapped out below for your convenience. Please ensure that you are prompt with drop off and pick up. If for any reason you are late to pick up your child, it is best that you call our office and let us know so that we can be sure your child is supervised until he or she is picked up.
*Please note that parking permits are required at both beaches from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you plan on parking your vehicle at the beach, be sure that you have the proper parking permits or you risk being ticketed.
Surf camp is $175 per camper per day, or $875 for a full week. Wetsuit rentals are an additional $25 per camper per day. A surfboard is provided to each camper at no extra cost. Campers are not required to wear wetsuits, but we do recommend them as campers spend roughly two and a half hours in the water on a typical camp day.
Campers are enrolled on a rolling basis. We cap our daily enrollment at 25 campers per day to ensure that our camper to instructor ratio does not exceed 3:1, which allows us to facilitate a safe and quality camp experience for all. We require that campers register AT LEAST 24 hours in advance of the start of the camp day you would like your child to attend. Registration attempted within 24 hours of the camp day is subject to availability and is not guaranteed. Registration may be completed online or via phone or email with our office staff.
payment & refunds
We accept payment by credit card or check. Full payment must be made upon registration. If you are paying by check, you may provide the check to our office in Sag Harbor. There are NO REFUNDS, but campers are welcome to make up missed days of their scheduled session(s) due to illness or injury within the same calendar summer with written documentation from a physician. Unused make up days WILL NOT carry over to the following summer. For more information on billing, please read our Policies & Procedures.
